Patriarchy / Owls –  live The Workman’s Cellar, Dublin 23.04.2024

LA based band Patriarchy lead by infamous LA songwriter and director Actually Huizenga and accompanied by Andrew Means, known for probing the soft underbelly of sex, power, subversion, and death and existing where desire and fear inevitably intertwine. brought their mix of (try to bracket these guys in any genre is futile) as they combine elements of electronic, experimental noise, industrial metal to the point of ear bleeding and a good measure of punk thrown into the mix! All served up to the audience with a very highly sexually changed performance from both. If i had a issue with the performance it was that it ended to soon.
I could watch this act for hours and not get bored and judging by the crowds reaction to this the bands set so could they as a good lot went into a frenzy of passion the minute the first drum beat came from Means and then Huizenga joined on stage.
Opener on the night was Owls a darkwave specialist of the shadowy realms of postpunk, techno and industrial music.
