Niamh Bury, Ramper, Maria Kelly & Shark School – all set to play Ireland Music Week 1st-4th of October

NIAMH BURY – WORKMANS CELLAR – 3 OCTOBER @ 16.15
One of the most lauded artists to emerge from Ireland’s unparalleled folk music scene, Niamh Bury shared her debut album Yellow Roses via Claddagh Records this year. Niamh has been hailed as one of Irish folk’s most exciting new talents – a particularly prestigious coup during a time when the genre is garnering so much attention around the world. The respected UK music magazine CLASH referred to Niamh in an interview as “The rising voice breaking boundaries for Irish folk”. The Sunday Times featured her on the cover of their Culture Magazine as her first single ‘Beehive’ was released – an incredible achievement for a new artist; such is the regard in which Niamh and her music are held.

RAMPER – WORKMANS CELLAR – 3 OCTOBER @ 22.10
Based on a childhood lived before the internet and in the Irish language first, Donegal alt-folk artist Ramper captures those moments in time that are almost so simple you may not notice them at first, but when you let them settle hold a beauty that cuts through the noise. Declan McClafferty previously played in the award-winning Donegal band In Their Thousands, but embarked on his own journey as Ramper to explore a sound at once expansive yet intimate. Ramper’s songs have already travelled around Ireland, the UK, and across the Atlantic Ocean in the form of cosy shows. His music is best experienced live, in a moment just as ephemeral as his subject matter.

MARIA KELLY – WORKMANS CELLAR – 3 OCTOBER @ 23.10
Nestled somewhere along the Irish coast, Maria Kelly is writing songs for sensitivities. Maria has crafted her own world of delicately woven indie-folk with a sincerity that cuts to the bone. This sincerity is what captivated a dedicated audience for her 2021 debut album The Sum of the In-Between. Detailing the intricacies of her own mental health journey, the record quickly found its home, amassing millions of Spotify streams, leading to performances alongside Kodaline, Orla Gartland, and James Vincent McMorrow, and soundtracking RTÉ’s trailer for Conversations With Friends. Prepare for more music from Maria that packs a punch and soothes like a balm, promising to be her most affecting work to date.

SHARK SCHOOL – WORKMANS CELLAR – 4 OCTOBER @ 23.10
Nora Staunton (guitar, vocals), Peggy Ford (bass), Meg Bruce (percussion, backing vocals) and Cathal Curran (drums) formed Galway garage band Shark School in June of 2023 and have quickly made a name for themselves playing with celebrated Irish acts, including NewDad, The Love Buzz, Elaine Malone and many more. The group have played at the festivals Beyond The Pale, All Together Now, Electric Picnic, Whelan’s Ones to Watch and Fall Right Into Place, as well as touring all over Ireland and in the UK. They are known for their energetic sets, punctuated by their sarcastic wit.
