Nathalia –  double single release introduces a bold new chapter

After making her mark as one half of Sweden’s fast-rising duo Lover’s Skit, Nathalia Aránguiz steps out on her own as NATHALIA. Today’s double single release introduces a bold new chapter built on instinct, experimentation and unapologetic ambition. 

The music sees her pushing further into the genre-blurring instincts that defined her previous work, while embracing a newfound confidence in her own voice, identity and performance. From the playful irreverence of the Beastie Boys and the abrasive intensity of Death Grips to The Prodigy’s rave maximalism, The Hives’ garage-rock energy, The Knife-esque electronics and early M.I.A. sampling, NATHALIA’s world is where the dancefloor and mosh pit are never far apart.

She says: “Introducing my alter ego, Miss 101. The double singles explore Miss 101’s relentless drive to reach the top and achieve fame and success. She feels like even at her peak, the suits and the audience are asleep to her performance and she knows they will regret it.”

There’s a politically charged, punkishly virtuosic edge to the music, shaped partly by NATHALIA’s time in London’s experimental scene and combined with the influence of her close-knit underground community in Stockholm, centered around Spice 99, the club night she shares with friends and fellow musicians. That sense of community, experimentation and making music without rules runs through everything she does.

This release is a significant step forward for an artist who never initially imagined music as a career. Growing up in Stockholm, NATHALIA was a self-described perfectionist studying science and maths, and had never performed live before meeting producer Ove Jerndal in 2021. Together, they formed Lover’s Skit, quickly turning heads at BBC Radio 6 Music, DIY, METAL, The Line of Best Fit, NOTION, Dazed and beyond. 

Now, stepping out alone, NATHALIA is trusting her instincts more than ever, experimenting with style, femininity and choreography to brilliant effect. She possesses a bullet-proof confidence built not on external validation, but on making her own creative calls and pushing herself well beyond her comfort zone.
