Antoni O’Breskey & Consuelo Nerea Breschi – share visual for new single ‘Napoleon Crossing The Alps’

Renowned composer and pianist Antoni O’Breskey has today released the live music video for new single, ‘Napoleon Crossing The Alps’, from forthcoming album,  A Wild Inhabitation (out October 16th).

The visual was recorded live at Hellfire Studio in Dublin by Joe McGrath, with cinematography and colour grading by Adrian O’Connell (Itchy Feet), and mixing by Ivan Jackman.

In a year where he has just shared a three volume retrospective album to celebrate five decades of making music, one of the world’s most prolific musicians, Antoni O’Breskey, shows no signs of slowing down.

Earlier this year, a short documentary on Antoni’s incredible life, directed by award-winning filmmaker Luke McManus, was released. Watch the trailer here.

‘Napoleon Crossing The Alps’ is the second release taken from A Wild Inhabitation, which was made in collaboration with O’Breskey’s daughter, musician Consuelo Nerea Breschi (Varo, Landless, Rattling Ark).

Paahto Cummins (Paahto & The Bull), who features on the album, coincidentally released a rendition of the tune under the name ‘Bonaparte Crossing The Alps’ as part of debut album The 123, several weeks ago.

O’Breskey’s version is of a striking contrast, featuring swelling piano, Hammer dulcimer, concertina and fiddle against cinematic synthesizers, cello, double bass and percussion.

The album announcement arrived with first single ‘Month of January’ (stream / Watch music video by Brian Kelly) on September 2nd.

A Wild Inhabitation features a host of leading figures from Ireland’s contemporary traditional, folk and experimental scenes including Ultan O’Brien (Slow Moving Clouds), Paahto Cummins (Paahto & The Bull), Ross Chaney (John Francis Flynn Band), Kevin Murphy (Rattling Ark), Jack Duffy (Junior Brother Band), Barry Carroll and Brenda Castles, alongside Italian cellist and producer Davide Viterbo (Distant City).

What began as an intimate father-daughter project a few years ago has evolved into an expansive, collaborative body of work. In this upcoming album, traditional songs and tunes are woven into a rich tapestry of minimalism, electronica and jazz, creating an evocative, cross-generational project.
