MorMor – returns with new single ‘Like Heaven’ featuring Celeste

MorMor makes a confident and captivating return with shimmering new single ‘Like Heaven’, featuring Celeste

Arriving after a period of reflective quiet following acclaimed 2022 debut album Semblance – a personal collection that pursued difficult truths about love and growth, recorded largely during the lonely lockdown days of the pandemic – the new single marks a striking reintroduction. Taken from the artist’s forthcoming full-length due later this year, it reveals a creative shift: from solitude to synergy, embracing collaboration and in turn broadening both sonic scope and perspective.

‘Like Heaven’ sees the self-taught multi-instrumentalist explore contrast and chemistry in his work, as in his collaboration with Danger Mouse on ‘Wonder’, which saw him momentarily and spontaneously step back into the studio for an instinctive artistic partnership last summer.

Built on an opening breakbeat and layered with cinematic keys, melodic guitar lines, and bluesy bass, ‘Like Heaven’ leans into dreamy textures, with glittering chimes adding a hazy, atmospheric sheen. Celeste’s soulful vocals glide through the final chorus, providing a striking complement to MorMor’s signature svelte tenor, arriving like an intoxicating cloud of smoke. Together, they bring a richness to the production that feels both intimate and expansive, pushing a song about finding hope in faithless times to truly ascend.

Celeste’s involvement was unplanned. “She came to [Rick Rubin’s Malibu studio] Shangri-La simply to hang out, but ended up jumping on the mix,” says MorMor. “Her vocal was recorded in that first session and it remains in the final version. She captured a raw, immediate energy that couldn’t be recreated.”

The process of making the track was equally as organic, instinctively created around a shared feeling with a focus on tension and atmosphere, producing something fluid and alive rather than over worked.

The new offering signals the re-emergence of an artist widely praised for his craft in creating immersive, introspective sonic worlds, offering a glimpse into his next artistic chapter…
