Last night in Wexford, Moncrieff played to a sold out Live at the Breakwater. The event couldn’t have come at a better time with the Fleadh Cheoil bringing thousands of music lovers into the town, and Ed Sheeran even making a surprise appearance earlier in the week. The buzz around Wexford was electric. Against that backdrop, Moncrieff’s sold-out show was the icing on an already sweet cake.
Hitting the stage after support from Simple Things and Le Boom, he launched into the night with the high energy Shangri-La. What followed was a rollercoaster of hits and a handpicked cover that showcased his ability to switch gears effortlessly, moving from powerful, chest-thumping anthems like Love Somebody to more intimate tracks like Mirror of You.
The crowd, already buzzing from the week’s festivities, matched his energy in full, singing along, cheering, and falling completely under his spell. Moncrieff’s storytelling between songs added a nice touch to the performance, touching on themes of grief, resilience, and finding hope in chaos. The intimacy of his lyrics paired with the scale of the production made this feel really personal.
The night was wrapped up with Warm, a fan favourite that brought the whole tent together. With his Limerick date coming up this Saturday, those heading to Live at the Docklands are in for something special.
