The expanded edition of Music For Pleasure, the debut studio album by MONACO – originally released
in 1997 – will be repressed on 180gm black vinyl and released by Music On Vinyl on 20 June.
Monaco was the 1995–2000 project of Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook alongside his
musical partner David Potts, both of whom were also members of Revenge.
When New Order went on a hiatus after the Republic album in 1993, Hook took the band’s sound and
spirit with him and founded the new band. His distinctive, pulsating bass lines united New Order’s
marriage of post-punk and pop, creating an identity so recognisable that Monaco’s first single, What Do
You Want From Me? was often mistaken for a New Order track. Upon its release, the album reached 11 on the UK album chart and sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
Music For Pleasure (Expanded Edition) is now becoming available again on black vinyl featuring six
bonus tracks, including remixes by Joey Negro and Farley & Heller, and housed in a gatefold sleeve
which includes a four page booklet.
