Mick Flannery today presents “I’ll Be Out Here”. The song is a special solo performance by cast member of the forthcoming stage production The House Must Win, Tabitha Smyth, who plays the role of Grace. “I’ll Be Out Here” is also featured on Flannery’s forthcoming double album of the same name. The House Must Win is set for release on May 22nd via One Riot Records. Mick Flannery’s gritty new musical drama, The House Must Win, based on his debut album, will have its world premiere at the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire Dublin on 17th April (preview 16th April) where it runs until 3rd May. It will then transfer to The Everyman, Cork from 6th -16th May.
Speaking on “I’ll Be Out Here” Flannery explains, “This song has been adapted from its original lyrics to suit the story of the musical. The supremely talented Tabitha Smyth, who plays Grace In our debut production of The House Must Win, gives voice to this song of moving on.”
Belfast artist Tabitha Smyth describes the experience as “an absolute honour to be singing Grace’s version of ‘I’ll Be Out Here’ on this album. It’s such a treat getting to sing it in the show, and I feel a real privilege covering it, as I know it’s one of everyone’s favourites by Mick. I flew over to Cork for the day to record it with Mick and the band, and it was beyond special getting to sing it live in the studio with so many talented musicians. Working with Mick has been a dream come true, and I really hope I’ve done the song and beautiful writing justice in this recording,”
Tabitha Smyth is a talented Northern Irish actor and singer-songwriter who trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She recently released her debut EP ’45 Minutes’, she’s emerging as one of the UK and Ireland’s most compelling new alt-pop voices. Before joining the cast of The House Must Win stage production she recently wrapped an A24 film ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ across from Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.

The House Must Win double album comprises of 20 songs that span the full story of Flannery’s stage production. This collection of songs have been in the works for over 20 years, with reimaginings of songs from his 2005 debut album Evening Train and 10 new songs and orchestrations making up the exquisite album.
The House Must Win features an array of special guest artists invited to join on the many duets and ensemble pieces on the record. Alongside Tabitha Smyth’s solo performance, Flannery is joined by GRAMMY Award Winner Anaïs Mitchell on the first single “Rising Tide, Portland songwriter Jeffrey Martin, Canadian, multiple JUNO award nominee Jenn Grant, Mercury Music Prize nominee Lisa Hannigan and Choice Music Prize nominee Susan O’Neill, together with West Cork folk singer Marybeth O’Mahony, longtime collaborator Yvonne Daly, and Mick’s brothers Brian, David, and Eamonn Flannery make their recording debut alongside him on “Take It on the Chin”, one of the iconic songs from Evening Train.
