Maverick Sabre / Bricknasty – gallery & live review at 3Olympia Dublin 13.02.2025

Last night the Dublin 3Olympia was buzzing with a sold out crowd, all eager for a night of soulful tunes. Maverick Sabre was back in town as part of his tour promoting his new album ‘Burn The Right Things Down’.

Kicking off the evening was Dublin’s own Bricknasty. The band wasted no time in connecting with the hometown audience. Frontman Fatboy stepped up and, sensing the initial hesitation, playfully chided, “No, no, no, there’s no way this is my hometown and that’s the reception I get.” The crowd responded with a thunderous applause and from there on out the energy didn’t dip.

Throughout their performance, Bricknasty proudly shouted out to Ballymun, their home turf, which the audience absolutely loved. Their unique blend of 2000s R&B, jazz-rap, and street poetry was on full display, showcasing why they’ve garnered such rave reviews. Tracks from their debut EP, Ina Crueler and their latest mixtape, Xongz, were on the setlist and by the time their set came to an end the 3Olympia was packed and rocking.

As the lights dimmed, anticipation built for the main act. Maverick Sabre emerged, donning an all-black ensemble paired with a sleek leather jacket, exuding effortless cool. Backed by a full band, he launched into his set and the Dublin crowd were loving it. By the second song, the leather jacket was off, and the night was in full swing. The crowd was lively, a mix of ages all united by their appreciation for Maverick’s soulful voice. He treated fans to hits like “Let Me Go” and “I Need,” tracks that have solidified his place in the music scene. The 3Olympia was packed to the rafters, a testament to Maverick Sabre’s long lasting appeal. His journey from early collaborations to his latest work, including the new album Burn the Right Things Down, was evident in his performance.

In the end, both acts delivered performances that left the audience buzzing. Maverick Sabre plays Manchester tonight before rounding off the week in London. Those venues are in for an awesome night of music!
