Lloyd Wayne – shares new single ‘How True’ taken from debut EP Bird Beyond, watch the video

Lloyd Wayne (aka Compton White) releases his debut EP Bird Beyond, his first release under his name, which has received early tips from publications including The FaderThe Line Of Best Fit and DIY for its preceding singles ‘Saviour‘ and ‘Bird Beyond‘.

To celebrate the occasion, Wayne also releases a video for EP cut and new single ‘How True‘ that blends sumptuous vocals and rich production with, as Wayne describes it, “the slightly-off, the layman’s attempt, the crusty parts of small-town life people try to sanitise and abandon. It’s kind of a Napoleon Dynamite approach to sound.”

This sense of unrefined mischief is not contained to Wayne’s music. His nomadic Romany Gypsy upbringing spent traveling with his fairground-running showman family between London, South England, and the Isle of Wight gave him boundless freedom to get into scrapes, make mistakes and generally figure life out for himself. With his parents occupied running the candy floss kiosks and rides, Wayne and his brother Reed could roam free. Since receiving critical acclaim under his Compton White moniker, he has been writing with Mura Masa and Westerman and now releases his debut EP under his own name.

In ‘Bird Beyond‘ Wayne blends the weird, the crude and the mischievous with gorgeous production. The result: an extraordinary soundscape that’s so poppy you’re sure you’ve heard it before, and yet so strangely idiosyncratic you can’t stop listening.
