Hailing from Leeds, UK, self-produced Gen-Z quarter Artio are comprise of lead vocalist and lyricist Rae Brazill (they/them), lead guitarist Rob Arkle (he/him), rhythm guitarist Jai Akhurst (they/them), and drummer/producer Ieuan Jones (he/him). Formed in 2018, the group forge ferocious and incendiary electronica-infused alt-rock anthems taking inspiration from fellow genre-defying trailblazers Twenty One Pilots, PVRIS and Skrillex to craft their sound. The band zealously adhere to a DIY ethos – self producing all their material, directing their music videos and hand making their stage outfits.
Artio release ‘Split Soul’ as an independent, stand-alone single on the back of their EU and UK Tour with Vukovi, ahead of their festival appearances at Download, The Great Escape + Radar. The band are headlining Luckjuice Festival in London on May 10th and will be guest appearing on stage at Slam Dunk with As It Is to perform their song from ‘Never Happy X‘. This is the band’s first independent release since viral TikTok song, ‘Product Of My Own Design’ that amassed 120k+ TikTok followers and 2m+ views. The band spent 2024 commanding the stages of festivals such as Slam Dunk, 2000 Trees and Burn It Down as well as supporting artists such as Honey Revenge, As December Falls and Mothica across the UK. The band were championed numerous times in Rocksound, in print and digital, as well as being in Kerrang’s ‘Top 25 for 25’ and opening their stage at Slam Dunk Festival in 2024..
‘Split Soul explores the ideas of bodily autonomy, purpose and navigating your destiny. Toying with the ideas of divine intervention or forging your own path, the fear of the unknown and the pressure to show up regardless of the horrors in your head. In a society where you’re told anything is possible if you just believe whilst constantly being put in boxes and behind barriers for simply existing, Artio rage against the performative expectations of self expression and declares that only they are the masters of their future’.
