Leatherette – Hear new single ‘Cold Hands’ – New album ‘Ritmo Lento’ end of the month

Leatherette have recently announced the release of their third album ‘Ritmo Lento‘ on 28th November via Bronson Recordings.

They have shared the new single ‘Cold Hands‘. Built on three essential chords with nods to contemporary shoegaze, it alternates skeletal guitars with more massive moments, accompanied by a stubborn toy flute ostinato. The result is sparse yet vibrant, almost self-ironic, fiercely adolescent. It thrives on contrasts between lightness and melancholy, between momentum and stillness: it passes quickly like a fleeting thought, but leaves a persistent echo of sincerity and fragility. It explores the struggle of accepting the fading of feelings when clarity is no longer enough to fill the void left by habit.

The album’s previous singles were ‘Lovers Drifters Foreigners‘, a song that unpredictably blends punk viscerality and cosmic visions and ‘Hey There‘, a track which pushes the band’s boundaries toward experimental minimalism, laying a fragile and intimate vocal over a solid yet languid bass riff.

After an intense, captivating journey in which they established themselves as one of the most intriguing acts of the new Italian indie scene, playing festivals and touring Europe and the UK, and releasing critically acclaimed albums ‘Fiesta‘ (2022) and ‘Small Talk‘ (2024), Leatherette return with a record born from the need to slow down, switch off the autopilot, and rediscover the essence of songs without worrying about fitting them into a genre.

‘Ritmo Lento’ is a record of atmospheres that perfectly balances catchy melodies, sing-along choruses, fuzzy cavalcades, and more reflective moments. The very title of the album, Ritmo Lento (“Slow Rhythm” in Italian), speaks of this dialectic: the constant tension between frenzy and pause, neurosis and breath, the desire to accelerate and the need to stop. The vinyl is divided into two distinct sides: six impetuous and catchy tracks and six denser, more meditative ones, like an inner diary of contrasts.
