Ro Malone is an Irish girl now resident in L.A.
Moved to pursue songwriting, landed a gig writing and singing for a Venice Beach tv/film music house. Scored work including massive international campaigns for brands that include Colgate and AMEX to name but a few! Recently signed with a new talent agent in Hollywood for theatrical and commercial acting work, so you won’t just be hearing me sing anymore…..fingers crossed!
The song is a juxtaposition, like many fun/happy sounding pop songs it stems from a slightly unhinged place!!! The song I wrote is about my own personal challenge in living with recurrent MDD and how it always seems to rear its ugly head at the most inconvenient time! Quite literally my doctor gave me pills and they did help… until they didn’t… and then I was basically like a zombie for pffft about 3 years!!!
“The doctor says I need a pill, but that just makes me slip slip slip slip away”
So yeah, I came to realize that “I’d rather ride the waves and stick around, just so I can say hey hey hey hey, Hello Hello Sunshine“
There’s no better feeling than when you’ve been feeling low to then truly feel the high again!! The joy, the epiphany that life is good, that things are gonna be okay; that feeling you get when you catch some wind in your sail and you’re not stuck in irons anymore you know!! Even if only just for a second! I want to feel life, the good and bad and not be sedated for any of it!!!
My new prescription?? This is it >>> RX: My prescription is a sunshine subscription!!!
That’s what it is to me anyway, ‘the song’… but it’s not mine anymore, it’s yours, it’s everyones, and I hope it helps bring whatever kind of sunshine or meaning you need!!!
