Kilkenny Roots Festival – various venues throughout the city / Day Four, Monday 05.05.2024

So the final day of Kilkenny’s Roots festival arrived and as with all years the pace slows down and theres only a hand full of shows for those left in the city.
The diehards that have stayed for the Monday, not all can as its not a bank-holiday weekend everywhere and a lot of folks travel each year to this festival, but anyway the diehards had Jeffrey Foucault in The Pumphouse Bar to kick off things, I was surprised when I got there that there was already a good crowd waiting for things to start and once they did it was a nice cosy acoustic show that we were treated to, something the body needed (well mine anyway lol).
After this it wasn’t a walk across town as other days would have been, I was lucky that the next show was only next door in Cleere’s Bar and Theatre, that being My Darling Clementine, it looked as if all that had just been next door a few hours earlier had just been transported through the walls from one venue to the next one as the room was full with those familiar diehard faces lol.
I had planed that this was the end of the weekend for my, but then decided to head over to Billy Byrnes Gastro Bar & Venue for what is a special show laid on with invite only for the organisers/volunteers/acts/ and special guests.
Playing this show was a band I kept having to miss due to having to get to other shows, so hence the reason for heading to it. It was Small Town Jones.
Well that was the end of the weekend for me and have to say it was another very successful festival and the music on show as always kept everybody in high spirits.
