Joy Crookes’s Juniper Tour started at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre. It was thrilling from the beginning, the audience was very lively right after the doors opened. The first act, Avenue 68, whose performance was a mixture of rock and soul, gave the crowd such an upbeat vibe that they were all moving their heads to the beat and were ready for more.
The moment Joy made the entrance the excitement level of the audience did not just go up a notch but rather a hundred ramp. She started performing a very powerful emotionally charged set from the new album Juniper, combining raw feeling and confident easy-going style, which has always been her trademark. Her powerful voice was like a magnet to the amazing acoustics of the theater and everyone got in really deep.
The connection between Joy and the crowd was undeniable. The audience followed every shift in tone, from high-energy moments to quiet, introspective passages, completely absorbed in the performance.
The setting added to the magic of the evening. Warm lighting and soft shadows enhanced the ornate details of the venue, giving the show a cinematic quality. It was one of those performances that felt both grand and deeply personal, leaving the audience with the sense that they had witnessed something special.
