EVERYTHING IS RECORDED – producer Richard Russell’s ever-evolving artist project – release the Cut Offm Your Nose EP via XL Recordings on 14 August. Spotlighting fresh new voices while recruiting celebrated past collaborators, the EP sees Russell joined by Jah Wobble, Roses Gabor, Samantha Morton, Rian Brazil, IDK and Peter Gabriel across four tracks that map the full breadth of his restless creative vision.
At the EP’s centre is new single Cut Off Your Nose featuring legendary musician Jah Wobble, who contributed to two tracks on the Everything Is Recorded 2025 album Temporary. An equally prolific presence in his own right, Wobble has lent his one-of-a-kind bass playing to the likes of Public Image Ltd, Bill Laswell and Primal Scream’s Screamadelica, alongside more recent outings with Ken Boothe, Jon Klein and Tian Qiyi. On Cut Off Your Nose, Russell places him front and centre as lead vocalist and bassist on a track that distils elements of grime and breaks into a prowling,
“Jah Wobble’s bass has been a foundation of so much music I love. He’s an incredible collaborator, a musical hero who’s a joy to work with – so much knowledge and humour. For Cut Off Your Nose we talked about him being the vocalist as well as the bassist, and he didn’t hesitate. Same conviction, same weight.”
Richard Russell
“Working with Richard has been like a breath of fresh air for me. His sessions are always fun, Imaginative and idiosyncratic. He’s a smart cookie, never on autopilot. The way he works is reminiscent of the great Holger Czukay. He understands the importance of ‘the moment’. That’s a pretty rare quality in itself.”

One With The Sky is a DJ-friendly garage-inspired song, its contrasting feelings of optimism and loss in Roses Gabor’s vocal set against Russell’s bass and drums amid moving keys courtesy of Laura Groves. Ode To Her pairs Samantha Morton – who released Daffodils & Dirt as a duo with Russell in 2024 – with
burgeoning Brighton-born UK rap talent Rian Brazil, hot on the heels of his 2026 EP engine heartbreak. The track is built around a chorus Morton woke up with, fully-formed one morning, with Brazil’s laconic vocal adds further layers to its narcotic haze.
Rounding off the EP is Beyond The Brilliant Haze, featuring Maryland rapper IDK and Peter Gabriel. The collaboration extends a prior partnership between Gabriel and Russell, who co-produced Four Kinds Of Horses on Gabriel’s 2023 album i/o, his first UK No 1 in over 30 years. IDK – born Jason Mills and dubbed “the polymath of rap” by Forbes – brings the maximalist adventurousness of records like Is He Real? And USEE4YOURSELF, having previously worked with Tyler The Creator and Pusha T. The track brings together three artists from different worlds into something genuinely unexpected.
