Acclaimed Irish trio Chasing Abbey have announced details of their new album Cyber Celt and released the lead single Seachain. The album will be released on 18 September on limited edition coloured vinyl, black vinyl and CD from www.chasingabbey.ie The accompanying Cyber Celt World Tour begins in Dublin on 17 September and takes in extensive dates across the UK, Europe and a 29-date USA tour before ending in Perth, Australia on 14 December.
From Tullamore in central Ireland, Chasing Abbey have spent a decade building a strong following both in Ireland and internationally, earning awards and multiple-platinum records at home while selling out world tours and reaching a million followers online. Meaning ‘watch out’ in their native Irish language, Seachain is inspired by this generation’s exposure to war crimes and genocide. “Never before have so many people consumed so much trauma and this song is a reminder to watch out and never allow evil to be normalised,” comment the band.
Speaking about the alum, the band state: “Cyber Celt represents both a subtle description of the music and a philosophy we hold. The coming together of ancient and modern; a soulful respect for tradition with a burning desire for innovation.”
Reflecting their groundbreaking fusion of electronic production and Celtic influences, in particular traditional Irish music, this release positions the band at the forefront of the Irish cultural revival amongst peers such as Kneecap, Lankum and Madra Salach, and sees them using this beautiful ancient language to deliver their lyrics with maximum weight. Working entirely in-house, they write, record, produce and mix their own music as well as creating the visuals that accompany each release.
Their live show is just as much a spiritual awakening as it is a concert performance – soaring energy mixed with a message of unity and social justice drives home the feeling that this is not just a show. This is a movement that Chasing Abbey are leading internationally.
