Queen Bitch is the music project of Róisín Bohan. Born in Reading, England and raised in Cork, Róisín began her musical journey as a child learning classical piano at the Cork School of Music. During her teenage years, she taught herself some guitar and made several attempts to write music, though self-doubt often held her back.
After finishing school, Róisín earned a BA in Fine Art from the Crawford College of Art & Design in Cork. Following graduation, she moved to Dublin and spent several years building a career as an art gallery curator.
In early 2020, at the age of 27, Róisín decided to rekindle her musical interests. She bought herself a guitar as a belated Christmas gift, just before the pandemic hit. With the extra time provided to her during lockdown, she began developing song melodies—initially without any plans to pursue music seriously. As restrictions eased, Róisín enrolled in guitar and vocal lessons, which helped her gain confidence in her musical abilities.
Still apprehensive at the idea of performing live, Róisín began attending open mic nights in Dublin in January 2023, where she first shared her original music. By the summer of 2023, she started recording her songs, and in October, self-released her debut track, ‘Bones’.
‘Turn the Lights Down’ was written by Róisín and recorded at Beardfire Studios in Harold’s Cross, with the production team, Rohan Healy, Al Quiff, and David Virgin.
