The Fear’ delivers a fluid mash-up of catchy hip-hop inspired flows, thrashy neck-breaking riffs and unapologetic passion. Following the positive reception of the five-piece’s debut ‘One Mind‘ and their experimental drama-drenched follow-up ‘Shells‘, ‘The Fear’ is a heady combination of sounds that once again prove the band defy genre specifications.
The lyrics hone in on the importance of change, and the terror that comes hand-in-hand with it. As the band comment: “As the first song SINK wrote, we really wanted to portray the intensity we feel playing this live. It’s one of those songs we feel in our bones. The video is definitely a good reflection of that. The flows and grooves are very hip-hop inspired. We always aim for a fresh approach to our genre-bending. Morgan Beausang (glasseyed) who mixed the song has history in both hip-hop and metal, so the match was perfect. ‘The Fear’ touches on anxiety that comes hand in hand with change and attempting to over-come that. The relentless repetition in the verses mimics the anxiety one feels overthinking and dwelling on their worries however we wanted the call and response chorus to feel uplifting and hopeful for the listener.”
The video for ‘The Fear’ was directed and edited by the band’s vocalist Roy Geary, and filmed by Denis Cretu of VESPERS, with additional filming and visual design by Marta Okulicz of OhCoolDesign. Filmed in SINK‘s home country in County Kildare and Dublin City, the video captures the intensity of a SINK performance, where every whack of the snare holds a purpose, where the band always give in completely.
With distinctive riffs and catchy vocal hooks, matched with intense live performances, SINK formed in Dublin, Ireland in late 2025, forming from the ashes of local bands – each respectively making waves within the alternative scene.
SINK‘s philosophy is refreshingly no-limits – and their passion shows in every note, lyric, and live show. SINK is a project from the heart, born purely from the desire to reach people, moving their primal instincts with powerful songs and energetic performance.
The band’s inspirations are broad, and shine through. Each of the five members bring unique influences to the table from classic hip-hop (Nas, MF DOOM) to a wide range of alternative (Twenty-One Pilots, Turnstile, Bring Me The Horizon) – never boxing themselves into one specific sound.
