There’s something special about a song that makes you feel like you’re floating between two places—one foot still in the moment, the other stepping into what’s next. Driving Home, the latest single from Irish indie rockers InBetween Honey, absolutely nails that feeling. It’s a song about closure, but not quite wanting to let go, about leaving something behind yet craving the chance to relive it.
From the moment that sultry electric guitar kicks in, you’re pulled into this warm, expansive soundscape that somehow also feels like a vast hollow area where thoughts are left racing. It’s got that soft, almost hypnotic quality, but at the same time, it’s bold and full of intent. The beat is slow and seductive with guitar swells that make your face scrunch up in that classic “yep, this is hitting” kind of way. It’s effortlessly cool, the kind of track that makes you unconsciously start bopping along before you even realize it.
Vocally, Driving Home is a treat. The raspy, emotive delivery makes this a ridiculously easy listen, and despite its five-and-a-half-minute runtime, it never feels long. Instead, it loops you into this space of almost unwanted nostalgia—like you’re driving through the night with the windows down, reliving something you’re glad happened but slightly regret is over. The lyrics lean into that sensation, repeating lines like “Don’t you wanna know that feeling?” and “Don’t you wanna feel the feeling?”.
With Driving Home, InBetween Honey prove exactly why they’re one of Ireland’s most exciting rising bands. Having already played Electric Picnic twice and recently making their UK debut at London’s legendary Dublin Castle, they’re clearly a band on the up. This won’t be the last time we hear about this band!
