Truth is a compelling autobiographical album that explores core themes of female empowerment, love, loss and hope. Drawing inspiration from her difficult fertility journey, Baba’s pain, grief and joy are what have driven her to use music to communicate the emotional and spiritual responses of people, in often private experiences. Following a heartbreaking few years enduring fertility treatments and multiple miscarriages, she felt inspired to reconnect with the things that give her joy in life and take back control of her happiness – an inspiring story of resilience that runs deep through the album.
BABA says: “This album is my story—my journey through the highs and lows of recent years. It is an honest reflection on grief, resilience, and self-discovery, born from my struggles with fertility, the heartbreak of baby loss, and the mental health challenges that followed. It is a story about facing the complexities of healing while embracing those glorious moments of love, joy, nostalgia, and hope. Always hope. There was room for some bangers in there too”
Featuring rich, retro production crafted by Enda Gallery, who co-wrote the album and whose vocals feature on the single, ‘Spicy Summer’, Truth blends bold allure with effortless charm to explore the most intimate of themes with sheer grace. Arming herself with emotionally honest lyrics and dulcet vocals, Baba lays her heart bare. Loosely divided into four stages, the album portrays different junctures of her journey, from nervous hospital appointments to a newborn baby on her knee, with each quarter connected by a unique voice note interlude.
