The highly anticipated third remix of J-pop superstar Hikaru Utada’s “Electricity” is out today, offering another fresh take on Hikaru Utada’s acclaimed track, this time courtesy of Manchester-based producer salute.
“Electricity,” featured on the 2024 best-of album SCIENCE FICTION, has quickly become a standout in the artist’s catalogue. The track was performed as part of the encore at several shows during their tour, winning over fans and serving as a testament to Utada’s ongoing creative brilliance. Since its December release, the official music video has surpassed 1.8 million views, further solidifying the track’s impact. Building on this momentum, two remixes were unveiled earlier this year — one by Karen Nyame KG on February 15 and another by Arca on February 28 (you can read about their collaboration in their interview with i-D here) — continuing to fuel excitement well into 2025.
This latest rework comes from salute, the Manchester-based producer redefining the global electronic scene. With a Boiler Room performance in Melbourne surpassing 1 million views and appearances at Glastonbury, Field Day, and Coachella among others, salute has cemented their place as one of today’s most exciting dance creators. Now, they bring their signature sound to “Electricity”, infusing the track with a bold, new energy that takes it to electrifying heights.
