Harry Fennell – shares enchanting new single ‘Funeral Flower’

Following a captivating sold-out show at Little Whelan’s last week, indie-folk songsmith Harry Fennell today releases release sweeping new single ‘Funeral Flower’ via Rubarb Music.

Harry Fennell performs at All Together Now on Friday, 31st July.

Praised as one of Ireland’s most captivating emerging singer-songwriters, the Dublin-born, Galway-based artist’s old-time folk and Americana sound has compelled audiences at Electric Picnic, All Together Now, Whelan’s and The Ruby Sessions, earning him extensive support from RTÉ Radio 1, Red FM and Hot Press, who noted:

“60s songwriters are his lodestars, and while he cites Leonard Cohen, there’s also some Nilsson humour, a Dylan-esque eye for the absurd and a splash of Ray Davies.”

New release ‘Funeral Flower’ is built on Fennell’s signature intimate lyricism and soft folk instrumentation, capturing the quiet loneliness that follows the end of a relationship, moving through cold Saturdays, blue Tuesdays and the hope that someone might still come back:

“leave open the lines and leave on the light just in case you need someone to reach”

Balancing vulnerability with warmth, ‘Funeral Flower’ is steeped in incredibly emotionally honest songwriting that continues to set the tone for Fennell’s highly anticipated debut EP arriving later this year.

Raised on a strict diet of Bob Dylan, Fennell’s talent for shining a light on life’s beautiful and violent ways fosters an appreciation for the full spectrum of experience – a style that dares audiences not to sing, dance or weep to Cohen-inspired ballads and Shakey Graves inspired sounds.
