Multi-platinum rock superstars, Good Charlotte, have officially announced their upcoming album Motel Du Cap, out 8th August via Atlantic Records. The upcoming album marks a bold return to their roots while forging new ground, as the band readies to deliver their most personal record to date. Motel Du Cap is Good Charlotte’s eighth studio album and comes seven years after their previous release, Generation Rx. The lead single Rejects was teased last week on a billboard in Los Angeles and fans have been eagerly awaiting an announcement since – see the billboard article HERE.
The initial spark for Motel Du Cap was ignited when Good Charlotte played a private gig at the iconic Hotel du Cap in France, for a friend’s wedding in 2023. The surreal beauty of the venue, raw emotion of the occasion, and freedom of performing without expectations lit a fire under the Madden brothers. “It was this wild, once-in-a-lifetime vibe,” Joel recalls. “We were just there to celebrate, no pressure, and it reminded us why we started this—pure, unfiltered connection.” That night became the heartbeat of the album, a love letter to stripping things back and letting the music speak for itself.
The lead single Rejects is out now it’s a gritty, defiant anthem for the outsiders, delivered with the raw honesty that’s defined Good Charlotte since day one. Produced by Jordan Fish & Zakk Cervini, both of whom co-wrote the single alongside Benji and Joel Madden. The band have also released an official music video. Directed by Erik Rojas and Lenna Onto, the music video blends a live action Good Charlotte performance with the world of the Claymates™ animation story. The clay story follows the central character as he goes from boyhood to his mundane adulthood in a parallel experience as Good Charlotte before ending with an interwoven performance.
Last night, Good Charlotte made their live debut of Rejects on Jimmy Kimmel Live! They show no signs of slowing down as it was recently announced GC will be performing on Good Morning America Summer Concert Series on 8th August, followed by a performance at LIV Golf Chicago on 9th August. Last month, they took the stage at Welcome to Rockville marking their first show back in nearly 2 years. The Rockville setlist kicked off with The Anthem and was filled with fan favourites including a surprise cover of Teenage Dirtbag, featuring special guest Wheatus singer Brendan Brown, before closing with Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous.
