GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT has built a strong reputation worldwide for their powerful live shows and richly textured recordings. Known for blending atmosphere, melody and heavy dynamics, the Wicklow-based duo continue to evolve their sound while staying true to the elements that define them. Now GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT are set to bring their headline show to The Academy, Dublin on Friday, 3rd April 2026, plus support from Jo Quail.
Despite a constant touring schedule, the band have returned with a new studio album, released on September 6th, 2024 via Napalm Records. The record moves between psychedelic passages and driving krautrock-style rhythms, creating long-form tracks that feel more like journeys than individual songs.
The album also features collaborations with guest musicians including Dara O’Brien, Jo Quail and Sean Coleman. Their contributions expand the band’s sonic range with instruments such as sitar, cello, zither, shamanic drums, bowed psaltery, chimes and tanpura, adding depth and texture without overpowering the core sound.
Artwork for the release comes from Irish artist David Rooney, and the album was mastered by Streaky, one of Europe’s leading mastering engineers. Together, the visuals and sound complete what is a confident new release from the band.
With Embers, GOD IS AN ASTRONAUT delivers a progressive, psychedelic, instrumental post-rock album that reflects both their experience on the road and their willingness to keep pushing their music forward.
