Fya Fox – Shares New Single ‘Hometown’ and Announces Debut EP ‘Bittersweet’

Fya Fox today releases her heartfelt new single ‘Hometown’ – a poignant reflection on loss, community and the familiar faces that quietly shape our lives.

The Whelan’s Ones To Watch alumna and VIP Magazine ‘Rising Star’ has continued her return to music throughout 2026 with deeply personal releases, including RTÉ 2FM Track of the Week’s ‘Sweet Goodbye’ and RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends List-added single ‘Oversized Denim Jacket’. Now, she offers another intimate window into her songwriting ahead of the release of her forthcoming debut EP, Bittersweet, arriving October 23rd.

Inspired by growing up in rural Ireland, ‘Hometown’ reflects on the familiar faces and connections that quietly shape our lives. Following a number of local tragedies, Fya found herself reflecting on the people we often take for granted; the faces we pass on the road, see in the local shop and reconnect with during the Christmas season; and the lasting impact they leave behind. 

Blending her signature heartfelt songwriting with warm indie-pop and folk influences, ‘Hometown’ captures both the comfort of belonging and the bittersweet reality of change. 

The track offers another glimpse into her forthcoming highly anticipated debut EP, Bittersweet releasing October 23rd. A collection of songs written over the past two years that documents a transformative chapter in her life, from becoming a mother to rediscovering herself as both a person and an artist, she explains:

“For the longest time I’ve wanted to create a body of work and for some reason, now seemed to be the perfect moment for it to come together so organically. Looking back at the track list, it feels like I’ve captured little moments from the past 2 years that felt so emotionally raw.

Most of the EP was scratch ideas/melodies I wrote at home and that inspired the tracks to be less synthetic, I wanted real instruments to be present. Opening the EP with ‘Sweet Goodbye’ after the birth of my little girl and missing out on sharing this moment with passed loved ones I admired, to ending with ‘My Loves’, a song hoping I can be the person she looks up to, feels like a full circle moment. She has brought out the best version of me and when she is old enough to listen back, I hope she is proud I finished the EP.”

Known for her earnest songwriting and powerful vocals, Fya Fox cements her place as one of Ireland’s most compelling emerging pop artists, with ‘Hometown’, delivering another moving chapter ahead of the arrival of her debut EP.
