Flexx Carter is back with “Work”, the latest single from his upcoming EP, The Strangest Life I’ve Ever Known. This track blends a chill, melodic hook with sharp, quick-witted lyricism, something Flexx has only been refining with time.
Right off the bat, that “Take me, somewhere, that I don’t need to work no more” hook repeats like a hypnotic mantra, capturing what is almost a universal dream of escaping the daily grind. It’s laid-back, vibey, and effortlessly catchy, perfect for getting lost in.
“Work” really shines in its verses. Flexx paints the reality of working minimum wage, feeling stuck, and chasing something bigger. The line “This isn’t living, this is just being alive” hits hard, something a lot of people can probably relate to.
But it’s not just about struggle. The second verse is packed with rapid-fire bars, confidence, and self-belief. Lines like “I got a dream and I believe it / I’ll achieve it, I can guarantee it / The mic is like my lethal weapon / And I can’t conceal it” flexes his lyrical prowess. There’s a lot of wordplay happening here, fast syllables bouncing off one another effortlessly.
One thing about Flexx is he’s not just making music for the sake of it. He wants people to feel it. The whole track radiates his energy: positive, determined, and real. He’s not just rapping about the grind, he’s proving that chasing dreams is worth it..
“Work” is another solid drop from Flexx Carter. The mix of a vibey, addictive hook and razor-sharp verses makes it a track that’ll be on repeat. Whether you’re in your feels about work or just need a song to remind you to keep pushing forward, this one’s for you.
Flexx is only getting better—this upcoming EP is gonna be one to watch.
This ‘Works’ and gets an 8 out of 10
