Exciting Irish electro-pop duo Barbagianni – release debut ‘Lately’ EP on Fri 28th Nov featuring collaborations with Daire Heffernan, Amy Naessens, Ciara Dalton and TADGH

Dublin-based electronic duo Barbagianni release their debut EP Lately on Fri Nov 28th. Featuring singles Punch Drunk and Queen Of Verona, the producers continue to collaborate with some of the most exciting talent in the Irish music scene to bring their tracks alive, including Daire HeffernanAmy Naessens and TADGH.

The band – comprised of Karl McCrone (producer/guitar) and Matthew Keating (producer/bass) – are no strangers to the scene, and have carved out a unique niche through melding heartfelt song writing with production built for both introspection and the dancefloor.

Our final release of the year, the Lately EP feels like an exciting way to sign off. Not least because of our new track Libero, which brings events to a thunderous close while still keeping a Chemical Brothers-inspired groove pulsing underneath. 

Featuring Ciara Dalton on vocals, Libero was one of the first songs we explored collaborating with singer-songwriters on, which is why we wanted it to feature beside our first ever release, Punch Drunk. You can see so much of Barbagianni’s early DNA on those tracks and the imagery they evoke is perfectly captured in the EP’s artwork, Karl Magee’s shot of a glistening disco ball draped in a dark red room.

Silicon Crystals however, is full of bombast and 80’s pastiche, exploring sounds reminiscent of The Weeknd’s work on Dawn FM. An uptempo catchy chorus, electronic drums fills and a sax solo all make an appearance in our love letter to pure old-school synthpop. 

We worked with TADGH to write and record the vocals all in one session. It gives the track a drive that carries it all the way to the outro, where he trades off melodies with saxophonist Andy Mullan (Skinner, Onion Boys), and marks the second time we’ve brought on two musicians to play on one of our songs, which is why it sits beside our first duet, Queen Of Verona.
 

The Lately EP is just a taste of what’s to come. With more singles, releases and live shows planned, 2026 is shaping up to be an even bigger year for us.
