T.A. Narrative is a duo from Limerick, Ireland, composed of Tara Nix and Anna Murphy. The pair, who are childhood friends, have worked together under various guises, sharing the stage in Irish punk bands and touring and recording in the U.S.
Starting a collaboration as T.A. Narrative during lockdown, their unique and exciting visual live show and the release of their debut E.P. ‘Retro Futurism’ in 2023 has firmly placed them as a must-see act. Drawing influences from post-punk, electronic, and sparkly pop music (from Fugazi to Kim Petras and Chappel Roan), they have been described as having a charming abandon and a palpable sense of freedom and joy in the music that they create. Fresh from playing the main stage at this year’s Beyond The Pale Festival, a raucous set at All Together Now in Waterford, and having turned heads as special guests to the likes of Les Savy Fav, King Kong Company, Bush Tetras and Le Boom, T.A Narrative released their thumping single ‘Caught Out’ which saw the duo land coverage with the likes of Hot Press, 98FM, Today FM, iRadio, Sound Lab, RTE Entertainment and many more. Their new single ‘Sway’ drops October 11th and the EP will follow in winter. Expect to dance your tits off.
Introducing ‘Sway’ the brand new passionate, intense and hot upcoming single from T.A Narrative! If you’re into Pop, Rock, Funk, Electronic, Disco and Dance music then this is a must have tune for your playlists.
‘Sway’ encourages the listener to let go of your inhibitions and get lost in the music, enjoy the dancefloor, embrace the passion, sensuality and connectivity of two people. The track was influenced by Jessie Ware, Prince, ESG, Haim, Nile Rogers and Soule.
The drum beat and bassline came about on a hot day this summer when Tara and Anna were working on music in a stuffy attic studio. Tara immediately started singing “SWAYYY’ along to Anna’s bassline and the rest of the melody followed quickly. After adding more hooks and harmonies and guitar riffs, Tara and Anna parked the song out of frustration as they felt unable to finish it and continued working on other songs for the EP. A few months later, the track was passed to fellow Limerick Producer Chris Kirby, who loved what he heard and honed in the structure giving the song a new lease of life.
