Emerging Alternative Irish Band GBYM (Go Bury Your Monsters) – set to release fierce new single ‘In The Belly Of The Beast Of Love’ out May 2nd, you can now read our review here

GBYM is an emerging Irish alternative band; their new track, “In the Belly of the Beast of
Love” is a single taken from their forthcoming EP, Body Language.

The track opens with a pleasantly soft piano before it is accompanied by bass and vocals.
One of the standout elements on this track is the guitar riff, it provides more than just rhythm,
as it could be considered an additional voice. GBYM is known for their cinematic
soundscapes and emotional lyrics, and this continues in their new single, as it describes love
in a refreshingly new way. The track tells a story of being consumed by the “beast” that love
can be.

The lyrics paint vivid imagery through the metaphor of the beast, they describe love as if
traveling through the insides of a beast. He sings “I’ll lose myself all over again, In the belly
of the beast of love, maybe I’ve just had enough, my skin burning”, describing his skin
burning as if it is being burnt from the stomach acid within the beast. He explains how painful
love can be as he fights his way out for a fresh start. I particularly liked the lyrics, “I’m
stepping up to the plate again”, as if he is willing to get eaten by the beast to experience this
kind of love again.

Their debut track, “Science of the Heart,” explores the intricacies of human emotion by
talking about love and the human body. Their second single, “In the Belly of the Beast of
Love,” is a satisfying continuation of the album’s subject since it also addresses issues of
love and the body. The theme that they have created for their album Body Language is
conceptually cohesive, and I look forward to listening to the rest of the album. Overall.

I would give this track an 8/10 for the concept and excellent production.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
