Eloise Viola – releases ‘Glasshouse: Laid Bare’ podumentary

London-based singer, songwriter and vocal powerhouse Eloise Viola has released a revealing and powerful new podcast docuseries Glasshouse: Laid Bare. The five-part series is available to listen to in full on all streaming platforms now here.

“Many people on social media want to go viral,” begins Eloise about the new podcast. “That is essentially how the algorithms on social media have been designed; to reward controversial, short and snappy content, often with the purpose of driving views, follows, and ultimately, you parting with your hard earned cash.

Not only has this entailed that we are constantly bombarded with information, shortening our attention spans and overwhelming our animal brains, but is mostly intended to drive us to change ourselves, which is predominantly, the way we look. The goalposts have moved; what was once seen as beautiful, being slim and pretty, is now not enough. We have been set impossible standards which is driving an epidemic of self-hatred.”

Throughout her twenties, Eloise Viola has been writing songs and posting content on her own social media to protest against this culture. Suffering with disordered eating herself throughout her teenage years, which reached its peak at university, the mission of her twenties has been to refocus the narrative on how to love ourselves, and empower our self-talk, in a world which is profiting from telling us we’re not good enough. Eloise’s acclaimed album Glasshouse, released in 2024, is an amalgamation of these learnings; each song a different lesson.

Now, Eloise is releasing a podcast, or ‘podumentary’, to support her album. The documentary style podcast is a transparent, deep exploration of her own life experiences, disordered eating, and her reasons for turning them into songs. With a focus on solutions rather than merely describing the problem that we are all too familiar with.

Her theories are backed by specialists who join Eloise on the podcast. These include Gill Wilson, a counsellor and eating disorder specialist, dietician Alison Kyle and red carpet celebrity stylist Rachael Perry.

These experts provide ideas about potential solutions to repair our relationship with our bodies, scientific information about food, and ideas about how we can remain on social media, but not feel the after-scroll self-hatred and insidious sentiment that we need to change everything about our lives.

Eloise also shares the unfiltered stories behind her journey, with the writers and producers on the album about how these songs marked her lowest points, and the lessons that lifted her onto a path to healing, self-empowerment and self-love.

Glasshouse is a bold pop record which calls to mind the likes of Lizzo and Dua Lipa, with singles such as ‘Electricity’ which have ridden high on the airwaves on Radio 1 and Radio 2. The album has achieved a widespread global fanbase as ‘Electricity’ topped the fan-voted chart at EDM Radio Spain for five months, while Eloise also developed a strong fanbase in Latin and South America.

She recently completed a number of live shows in South America and Mexico at the end of last year and prior to this she supported Blue and toured across the UK with Rebecca Ferguson. Eloise has more live dates to be announced soon.

Glasshouse is an empowering record and now the new podcast Glasshouse: Laid Bare takes this a step further with a mission to empower yourself; to learn to rebuild your relationships with yourself, your body, and reconnect with food being an amazing and crucial part of our lives; and maybe even, dare to love yourself.
