Elaine Mai – shares the new single ‘Echo’ (feat. MuRli)

Choice Music Prize-nominated artist and producer Elaine Mai continues to make waves with her latest track ‘Echo’ featuring acclaimed rapper and producer, the Choice Music Prize-winning MuRli (Rusangano Family, Narolane). ‘Echo’ is released today, Friday 14th June.

Mai also announced earlier this week that she will play her biggest headline show to date at The Button Factory, Dublin on Friday 22nd November, with some stellar guests to be announced. Tickets on sale now.

‘Echo’ is a powerful testament to resistance and speaking truth in the face of adversity. As MuRli sings on the track: “It’s bigger than me and you, bigger than billions.”

MuRli, an award-winning multidisciplinary musician, adds a profound depth to ‘Echo’ with his evocative lyrics and unique sound. His influence in the Irish rap scene and his success as both a self-produced artist and composer for others make him a much sought-after collaborator.

MuRli says: “I’m a big fan of learning. There aren’t ready-made solutions for every issue we face, and yet there’s little harm in looking for one nevertheless. Falls, stumbles and embarrassments can all be part of the process of the journey that is progress. I’ve come to realise that it’s healthier for me to voice my concerns to people I trust and respect. Not for them to agree with me, but it helps to have perspective. So I speak up while also listening out for voices that aren’t just echoes of mine.”

Known for her dynamic blend of electronic music, Elaine Mai has consistently captivated audiences. Her debut album, Home, released in October 2021, was met with widespread acclaim, earning nominations for the prestigious Choice Music Prize for both album and song of the year. The album’s standout single, ‘No Forever (feat. MayKay)’ made a remarkable impact with 14 million impressions across Irish radio, reaching No. 6 in the Viral 50 Ireland Spotify chart

In 2021, Mai signed an exclusive publishing deal with industry icon Nick Halkes, enhancing her profile and providing new opportunities for collaboration. Halkes, known for signing The Prodigy and his influential roles within the music industry, brings a wealth of experience and a network that promises to further Mai’s reach.

Elaine Mai’s previous collaboration with MuRLi, ‘Ready,’ also recently found a new audience with remixes by Nick Reach Up in partnership with Dave Spoon (AKA Shadow Child) as well as Toolroom boss, Mark Knight. The remixes were released on Toolroom Records at the end of 2023. Peaking at 34 in the Irish Shazam charts, Apple Music’s editorial team recognised the track’s potential and appeal, featuring it in key playlists such as Breaking Dance, New In Dance, Future Dance Hits, and House Nation. It peaked at #50 on Beatport’s House chart, with robust radio support and endorsements and plays from MOGUAI, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Tough Love, David Tort, EDX, and Majestic and TCTS at KISS FM.

Mai’s live performances have been praised for their ambient, controlled house vibes, often drawing comparisons to global pop icons. She will be active on Ireland’s festival circuit this Summer, kicking off with a double weekender at Beyond The Pale on Saturday 22nd June and Sea Sessions on Sunday 23rd June. She will also play All Together Now on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Looking ahead, Elaine Mai has exciting plans for new music releases in 2024. This continuation of her artistic journey signifies her enduring relevance in the electronic music scene and her commitment to pushing the boundaries of her craft.
