Dublin pop twins ROOUE – release sultry single ‘Bible’

Pop duo ROOUE show off their mature side on their gritty new track ‘Bible’, out today

After attending repressive Catholic schools in Ireland, ROOUE moved to London and felt freer to embrace their sexuality. ‘Bible’ embodies that transformative time in their lives.

The twins say of ‘Bible’: “We went to an all girls Catholic school where sex was a taboo subject. We spent years feeling like speaking openly about sex was embarrassing and not ‘ladylike’. We wanted to write a song with no apologies that made us feel empowered.”

ROOUE were tipped as ones to watch in 2024 by the Irish Independent, and there’s no question why once you’ve listened to their 2023 dark pop hit ‘so bad’ and 2024 singles ‘overdraft’ and ‘you problem’. ‘So bad’ racked up 2 million radio impacts in the Republic of Ireland and reached no. 5 on the Irish Radio Breakers ChartJennifer Zamparelli selected ‘overdraft’ as her RTÉ 2fm Track of the Week, and the song has also been played on stations across the country, including iRadioRTÉ 2fmToday FMCork’s 96FM98FMShannonside, and SPIN. Music tastemakers GoldenPlec dubbed ‘overdraft’ ROOUE’s “best release to date.” Their March release ‘you problem’ was featured as Roz and Emma’s RTÉ 2fm Track of the Week and has since risen to no. 6 on the Irish Radio Breakers Chart, with over 1.5 million radio impacts. Needless to say, ROOUE are on the rise, with an EP due out this year.

Splitting time between Dublin and London, Ro and Lulu grew up in a home warmed by music and creative expression. With a music psychotherapist mother and “jazz nerd” father, their life was soundtracked by myriad genres, including soul, jazz, traditional Irish music, and electronic experimental pop.

ROOUE pay homage to their colourful musical influences by drawing inspiration from the sounds of the past but injecting their own unique flair, crafting music that is both familiar and authentic. ROOUE’s previous singles have also earned them millions of impacts on Irish radio, with their track ‘Orbit’ achieving no. 4 in the Irish Radio Breakers Charts. With their career only beginning and the prospect of their upcoming EP, ROOUE have been hailed by Hot Press as “one of the most exciting emerging acts on the Irish scene.”
