The Two Lips today share the sparkling new single “clue” The track follows “talk”, their official debut for Island Records UK.
The Two Lips combine ethereal dream-pop textures with grounded, honest lyricism – think the whispered intimacy of Clairo meets the haziness of Kali Uchis with a dusting of pop production… making for some insanely catchy tunes that are as emotionally resonant as they are hypnotic.
About the single, The Two Lips—Andrea and Jewlz commented, “‘clue’ is a song about the feeling when you have exhausted all options trying to save a relationship and you feel like you’ve reached a dead end. Both parties can’t seem to figure each other out, and you reminisce on good times before things went sour. Still, there’s hope that the “case” can be cracked and the relationship is worth saving.”
After supporting Sabrina Carpenter at her Hyde Park show in London, they played a triumphant headline at Islington’s The Grace. On the other side of the pond, following selling out the iconic Troubadour, The Two Lips added a second sold-out Los Angeles show at El Rey due to popular demand and will be playing a series of sold-out headline shows on the West Coast throughout August, including Los Angeles and San Francisco.
Hailing from the suburbs of Cerritos, California, longtime friends Andrea and Jewlz unassumingly started to make music for fun back in 2023. It became a way to process heavy feelings – life, love, what it means to be a woman and nodding to their respective backgrounds; both girls share Mexican heritage, and Jewlz is also Filipina.
They say, “A lot of our music is our therapy and things we talk about with each other. I feel like that’s why you really see our friendship through our music”. They just recently packed in their jobs working as a preschool teacher and a waitress respectively, following the success of their 2024 fan favorite “still love you (todavía)”, which garnered over 25 million Spotify streams and hit the Top Ten on the Spotify Viral Chart. Stay tuned for much more to come from The Two Lips…
