Dorian Electra – announces selftitled album + release new single ‘Young Folk’

Alt-pop futurist announces fourth album ‘Dorian Electra’ out 22nd April alongside lead single Young Folks – a cover of Peter Bjorn and John’s 2006 hit single.

Produced by Frost Children, Dylan Brady, Rambo and others, the self-titled album sees Dorian reframe iconic songs into a self-portrait, revealing the world that shaped them by rebuilding it in their own image. Reimagining work by artists across the globe, the album highlights the eclectic catalogue of music – spanning a cacophony of genres – that inspires and informs Dorian’s own work both musically and aesthetically.

Speaking on the track Dorian Electra says: “This album started as a way to break out of a creative rut in a moment where everything feels like nostalgia and nothing really feels new – what Mark Fisher called the ‘slow cancellation of the future.’ Instead of resisting that, I leaned all the way in and made a full album of covers, using the past as raw material to rediscover something that actually felt like me. It became less about originality and more about recombining what already exists into something honest and fun and very me.”

In addition to the album, Dorian announces international tour. Starting in Prague on May 18th making their way through Europe before heading to the UK including a date at London’s Electrowerkz and finishing in North America. Tickets will be available from Thursday 2nd April at 10am local time from DorianElectra.com
