Do You Believe In The Power Of Rock & Roll – An evening of spoken word with John Robb / Cleere’s Bar & Theatre, Kilkenny 12.09.2024

John Robb, journalist, presenter, boss of Louder Than War website, and lead singer of two well established Punk bands, those being The Membranes and Goldblade is on the road again with another leg of his spoken word shows. This time taking in venues across Ireland and he stopped of at Kilkenny’s John Cleere’s Bar & Theatre where he gave fantastic insight into what has influenced him over the years and made him the person he is today.

Speaking on subjects like bands he has toured with, band members he has interviewed and records that grabbed his attention and set him on own punk path and other assorted projects, he has been lucky enough to have been involved in as John has many irons in the fire, not forgetting the books he has written including his latest with Alan McGee which lends its name to this tour.

The show is well worth seeing by any serious punk fan, but you dont have to be just a punk fan if you are a serious music fan this show is for you.
Split in two halves you get the first half is where John gives a run down of his and punks history, where the second half he conducted a live interview with Irish artist Aideen Barry.
Who herself gave an in-depth look in to her process of how she creates and how she sees the art world changing some for the good and some not so.

To end if you can, be sure to get along to one of John’s shows as he is an encyclopedia of music information and a wonderful approachable guy, who after nearly two and a half hours on stage still gave plenty of time after to those that wanted to chat.
