DJO, the musical alter ego of Stranger Things star Joe Keery, delivered a dazzling performance at Dublin’s iconic 3Olympia Theatre on Sunday night. Blending his signature retro synths and warped vocals, the show was a journey through modern psychedelia that had the packed crowd truly entranced.
The punchy bass synth of “Basic Being Basic” made waves through even the upper stalls. “End of Beginning” – the song of 2024, was unsurprisingly a huge moment. The live arrangements allowed for more instrumental breathing room than we get in the studio versions, with guitar solos and bass grooves that leaned into a funkier, almost Tame Impala-esque realm.
Djo proved to any of the few doubters left that he is made for the live stage. He’ll be welcomed back to Dublin with open arms, as he surely continues to ascend the ladder.
Post Animal opened the night and received huge approval. They will be well set to line up a Dublin date of their own, having undoubtedly picked up a number of new listeners on the night.
