Diveboy – Unveil Melancholic New Single ‘Regatta’

Cork indie trio Diveboy have released their new single, ‘Regatta’ – a wistful track dripping with melancholia, perfect for the long Summer evenings coming to a close.

The song is the final single to arrive ahead of their highly anticipated third album, In Orbitreleasing October 2nd, which will mark a defining reintroduction after their rebrand last year, having previously performed as The Burma.

‘Regatta’ follows extensive support from RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2FM, Today FM, SPIN 103.8, Hot Press and more for a string of singles released across 2025 and 2026,  including ‘Chosen Ones’, ‘Suntrap’, ‘Glory Days’‘Solar Sister‘Built-in Heartbreak’ and ‘I’m Not The Only One’, with each song bound with an irresistible nostalgia and warm sense of sentimentality that has come to define the band’s sound.

Inspired by an annual regatta (series of boat races) that takes place in vocalist Tony O’ Donovan’s hometown of Cobh, Co.Cork, the single captures the bittersweet pull of unique hometown memories that draw you back into the past. He explains:

“It’s a weekend festival that’s full of music and life, but I’ve always found it to be a melancholic time. It probably goes back to my school days when it signalled the summer holidays nearing an end and back to school only around the corner. It’s like the circus is packing up and leaving town. There’s fireworks in the harbour on the final night and once when I was watching them, the person I was with said, “They always make me sad and I don’t know why”. That’s what sparked the idea for this song.”

Taken from their upcoming third album, In Orbit, which is their first LP under the Diveboy name, the album is a candid and bittersweet reflection on the transition period between youth and adulthood.  An ode to the relationships that define both chapters, their refined, elegant indie sound resonates throughout, shaped with renowned producer Ruadhrí Cushnan (Shawn Mendes, Ed Sheeran, Mumford and Sons).

Following standout performances at All Together Now, Other Voices and Cork City Hall (supporting Feeder) in 2025, members Tony O’Donovan (vocals), Peter Piggott (lead guitar) and Cian Doherty (drums) have stayed true to the sound that has earned them two top 5 albums in the Irish charts, five Homegrown Top 20 singles and a slot at Glastonbury.

Tickets for Diveboy’s Irish and UK tour are on sale now, HERE.
