Def Nettle + Shares Audio + Visual Remix of Neosupervital’s ‘Factory Presets’

Def Nettle and Neosupervital (AKA Tim O’Donovan) join forces on the psychedelic pop-funk remix single and video for ‘Factory Presets’, which was released today.

Originally released earlier this year, ‘Factory Presets’ is a single from ‘wonky electronic pop’ artist Neosupervital – the moniker of Dublin musician Tim O’Donovan, who is a former touring drummer for acclaimed Irish band Bell X1 (four-time Choice Music Prize Award nominees). Earning airplay from Today FM, SPIN and Radio Nova, the hypnotic single is taken from his highly anticipated third album, Transporter.

Opening for acts such as Stewart Copeland, Houseplants, Kazy Lambist, George Clanton, Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Divine Comedy, ABC, St. Germain, Peter Bjorn, John,Hercules and Love Affair, Neosupervital has also toured across the UK and Europe as a special guest of The Human League.

After a year-long hiatus following the release of their debut album DN001 in February 2024, punk-funk band Def Nettle, fronted by prolific musician Glen Brady, triumphantly returned to the Irish music scene with folktronic single ‘Get Me Here’ in February (remixed by renowned Dublin producer Arveene), earning airplay on BBC Radio 6, RTÉ 2FM, Red FM, Louder Than War and Total Rock and coverage in the likes of The Daily Star and Hot Press.

Deriving from a chance dog-walking encounter, the collaboration sees Brady reimagine Neosupervital’s classy original version of the single and take it firmly to the indie-dance/post-punk dance floor. Comparisons to Soulwax remixes notwithstanding, Ely Siegel’s cohesive funky bass twists the production into a  quirky yet celebratory vibe. Having seen and loved the original music video for the single, Brady has remixed the visuals alongside the audio, to take the release into deeper psychedelic territory and make it a multi-format feast for the eyes and ears.

DEF NETTLE

One of The Irish Times’ ‘New Irish Acts To Savour’ in 2023, Def Nettle released debut album DN001 to critical acclaim, with The Irish Times writing: “Much of the record explores serious life experiences, but the approach is unexpected; sometimes elements of new wave and postpunk meet a peppering of The The and Tom Waits, and while the spectre of a certain musical period in Manchester looms at times – Joy Division on Architecture, and The Smiths on War Machine (which actually features the late Andy Rourke on bass) – it strays away from being pastiche, and brings something of a vitality to well-trodden pathways.”

Brady is a Dubliner with a twist of his childhood spent in New York and a chapter of life spent in Berlin and San Francisco, working at the top of his field in every aspect of music production and performance. He has session musician credits with the likes of R.E.M., has spent 5 years as an engineer with the California State Symphony and has toured as a member of DARK with Andy Rourke (The Smiths) and the late Dolores O’Riordan, as well as having mixed their album, Science Agrees.
