Def Nettle – Share Cosmic New Single ‘Trauma Removal Machine’ Alongside Striking New Music Video

Irish punk outfit Def Nettle continue their prolific run of releases with their cosmic new single ‘Trauma Removal Machine’, out today, Friday, November 6th, further expanding their distinctive blend of New Wave, Post-Punk and Indie Dance. Accompanying the release is a striking new music video, directed by Rory Bresnihan (Gibbon Video).

The new single follows a busy year for the band, which began with tongue-in-cheek track ‘Mohawk’ (RTÉ 2FM Track of the Week) followed by ‘The Party’, with a remix by GLOK, and ‘Valediction’. Each release has seen the band draw on their signature post-punk attitude and dancefloor rhythms.

Bringing together the raw energy of New York post-punk, Dublin attitude and the infectious pulse of a Madchester dancefloor, ‘Trauma Removal Machine’ pairs its unmistakable 80s-inspired sound with a genre-fluid approach.

In this track,  Def Nettle delves into the therapeutic power of music and the possibility of finding relief through the creative process. Frontman and producer Glen Brady delivers his trademark raspy baritone and sardonic lyrical charisma, probing the elemental and spiritual value of inspiration with contemporary new age cultural references throughout. Rapper/vocalist Lisa Doyle provides a sly, questioning counterpoint, with her rhythmic delivery adding another dimension to the track.

Musically, the single brings together pulsating analogue synthesisers, Damien Fox’s thumping drums and Ely Siegel’s driving disco-rock bass lines, with Brady taking over guitar duties to deliver funky leads and powerful crescendos.

With its driving rhythms and pulsating synths, ‘Trauma Removal Machine’ explores how music can help us work through difficult experiences and find a sense of release, renewal and hope.
