Multi-faceted singer-songwriter and producer Cosha builds towards her first project since Mt. Pleasant, the new EP MurMurs, due 9th May, with final preview, ‘MurMurs Interlude’ out today. She also announces a long-awaited Dublin show at Workman’s Cellar on 28th May and London live show at The Lower Third, Soho on 31st May.
MurMurs sees Cosha in a chrysalis state, dancing between the points where pain and joy meet as she navigates the grey space that comes with change. The last glimpse into the project comes in the form of ‘MurMurs Interlude’, one of the most raw & emotionally potent moments on the record, the final sweat that breaks the heartache’s fever: “still I’m waiting for your whisper on my shoulder, knowing that if I could hear your voice again, I could spend a little longer in the picture, made of fractured memories of moments in love.”
Previous singles ‘Sun Back’, ‘Want You Back’ and ‘Fire Me Up’, served as signifiers of a new era for Cosha, still underpinned by her trademark raw and sensual sound. After a packed-out launch party for ‘Sun Back’, attended by some of the most prevalent talent in London, she has since had features in i-D and Something Curated, as well as her recent Shygirl collab ‘Thicc’ receiving praise from Pitchfork, The Fader and DJ Mag. Cosha will be the cover feature of the upcoming issue of Interlope Magazine, previous covers include Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sega Bodega and Klein. Irish tastemakers have long championed Cosha, including District Magazine, Nialler9, Hot Press, The Irish Examiner, and myriad others.
Having grown up in a small fishing town in Co. Wicklow, Cosha found comfort in being surrounded by nature from a young age. Venturing into unknown territory with her move to London at 17, she was quickly wrapped up in the music industry and all its flurry, touring with Mura Masa, Flume, Tirzah & Nile Rodgers, songwriting for Charli XCX & Shygirl, soundtracking commercials for Dior, Apple & Victoria’s Secret and hit TV shows such as Gossip Girl and Conversations with Friends, while also beginning her own solo project, working with producers Rostam Batmangalij (Solange, Frank Ocean), Emile Haynie (SZA, Lana Del Rey) and Koreless (FKA Twigs, Sampha) on her debut album Mt.Pleasant (2021). Now, as she transitions from Mt. Pleasant to her next era, she moves from her city pace to something slower, taking time to breathe and reboot and, as reflected in the visuals – back to where she started, in nature.
