Celebrating the music of Conway Savage – featuring Mick Harvey, Suzie Higgie, Terry Edwards, Jim Yamouridis and Robert Tickner. Live gallery and review from Spirit Store Dundalk 12.09.2025

Dundalk’s Culture Club organised a festival spread throughout Dundalk over the last week celebrating the life and legacy of Conway Savage, and his strong connection to Dundalk.

The events included various talks and performances in An Táin Arts Centre, Roe River Books etc, all culminating in Friday 12th Sept in The Spirit Store with a sold out concert ‘These Are the Waves: A celebration of the music of Conway Savage’. It included performances by Mick Harvey, Suzie Higgie, Terry Edwards, Jim Yamouridis and Robert Tickner, and focused entirely on Savage’s music in a laid back and intimate way.

The sold out crowd were treated to an amazing show, where the musicians on stage constantly revolved between instruments and taking turns in singing, and sharing various stories about all of their time working with Savage. It truly was a celebration of the music, as it was kept at the forefront for the entire show.

As Savage first performed in the Spirit Store when it had recently opened, and recorded and produced many times with The Spirit Store’s (and in fairness entire Dundalk music scene’s) legend Derek Turner, it was extremely fitting that the gig was held here, as he had a long standing connection to Dundalk.

The amount of musicians who turned up to perform and the level of the performance was truly something special, and I’m sure everyone can be very proud of the entire weeks achievement.

If you happened to miss it, you can still catch Mick Harvey and Amanda Acevedo on Sunday 14th (today), which I’m sure will be worth checking out.
