Madrid-born and Los Angeles-based multi-genre tastemaker Cara Hart returns with her brand-new single and video for ‘Hypelist’, out now via Bad Star Records.
Entirely self-written and produced by Cara and mixed and mastered by Daniel Viafore (Olivia Rodrigo, Chappell Roan), Hypelist is a sensational alt-pop offering that pairs Cara’s mesmerising vocals with an addictive guitar riff and bassline. Lyrically, the track is a diary of emotions and thoughts that explores fixations in all their forms, both positive and negative.
The single is released in collaboration with the newly announced HYPELIST app and platform – the home to curate, share and connect through recommendations – which was created by Alfonso Cobo (Unfold App). The social media platform/app, set to be officially launched this month, will be a place where all people can share their passions, obsessions and recommendations, free of filters and most importantly free of promotional content.
The new single is also accompanied by a stunning video, directed by Kris Rimmer (Johnny Mar, Sports Team, Hotel Lux) and produced by Alexa Haywood (MTV VMA award-winning – Sam Smith’s ‘Unholy’). The visual is the perfect social criticism on the current state of social media and societies’ obsession with fame and influencers, and how they have the ability to blind you from the beauty within and your own uniqueness.
Speaking about her new single ‘Hypelist’ Cara Hart said “In its essence, Hypelist is a song about your obsessions, but not in a negative way. We all have obsessions, it’s a natural thing. We just treat it like something we are sometimes ashamed of. And I say ‘no’ to that. You should never be embarrassed of the things that make you quirky in your own unique way. That’s why when Alfonso (Cobo, the Creator of the Hypelist app and platform) told me about this idea and asked me to take part in it, I didn’t hesitate for a second.”
‘HYPELIST’ follows the release of 2022’s ‘Extended Reality’ and ‘I Hart Cara’ EPs and marks the start of a fresh and exciting new era for Cara Hart. Stay tuned for a lot more music in the coming months.
