Blood Wizard today releases new single Lick The Big Star, taken from their upcoming EP ‘Lucky Life‘ which will be released April 16th on Sad Club Records. Blood Wizard will launch into a UK headline tour in April, a run which includes a stop at London’s Moth Club. Full dates below. Recent single Daydreaming won praise from DIY, So Young, The Line Of Best Fit (and more) as well as achieving numerous spins at BBC 6Music.
On new single ‘Lick The Big Star’ Blood Wizard say –
“Lick the Big Star” sums up the shift in sound we’re bringing with the new EP. We’ve been leaning back into more emotive, heavier music, that we all grew up with and loved. The song is about chasing a fantasy and not stopping to think about what it takes to get there”
The majority of the EP was written in South London, where the process (previously more of a solo venture for Cai Burns) became more experimental and collaborative. Rather than the usual band rehearsals, they spent more time at each other’s houses, messing around with the tracks, shifting the vocals and making samples, which has given the whole EP a different tone compared with previous releases.
“Lucky Life feels like a turning point for the project and we can’t wait to share what’s next” – Blood Wizard
