Belfast – band nominated for two major awards at UK Music Video Awards

MAKESHIFT ART BAR’S MUSIC VIDEO FOR “DISCIPLINE” HAS BEEN SHORTLISTED FOR

BEST ROCK VIDEO UK

&

BEST LOW BUDGET VIDEO

AT THE UK MUSIC VIDEO AWARDS

Makeshift Art Bar, the rising Belfast quartet, is celebrating two major nominations at the 2026 UK Music Video Awards. Their music video for the single “Discipline” has been recognised in the Best Rock Video (UK) category alongside fellow nominees, The Rolling Stones, Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee, The Last Dinner Party, Wolf Alice and Charli XCX. As well as the Best Low Budget Video alongside fellow nominees, Foule, Andy, Tamara Flores, Shelter 12 & Benjamin Amaru, and Farmar.

The music video was made for just £2,000, a testament to the creativity and resourcefulness of the team. The video has already been honored as Best New Talent Winner (Ireland) and shortlisted for Best New Editor (International) at the 2026 Kinsale Sharks, as well as official selections at both Leeds and Kerry International Film Festivals.

Directed by Colin Peppard, “Discipline” is a vibrant, surreal exploration of identity, obsession, and the pursuit of stardom. Shot on location in the Spanish resort town of Benidorm, the video follows Sean McNicholas, a genuine Harry Styles tribute act whose journey through bars and sun-soaked streets blurs the lines between reality and performance.

“A lot of my work explores identity, what happens when someone’s obsession can define them and the control, or lack of control, they demand over what makes them who they are. Sean’s case particularly stood out to me, as he is not in control of his career or success,” said Peppard, speaking to Directors Notes.

Speaking on the project producer Claudia McCormick said “We kept our crew super small and within two weeks of label confirmation we found ourselves in Alicante airport surrounded by several stags and hens at 1am, wondering what we got ourselves into. From a Producing point of view I was extremely lucky to be working alongside Colin and our DOP, Oisin. Amongst the chaos of Benidorm, the beating sun, the crazy drunk brits and TINY budget we made it happen. We explored life through Sean’s eyes – Exploring everything from his mundane everyday routine, to his costume fittings, his rehearsals and his big shows!”

The project was brought to life by a dedicated cast and crew, including Director Colin Peppard, Producer Claudia McCormick, Director of Photography Oisín McFarland Smith, Editor Annie Walsh, Sound Designer Mark Bergin, Colourist Jake M. White, and Colour Producer Shannen Troup. The video was produced by Rowdy Pig for Makeshift Art Bar’s label, Heist or Hit, and managed by SOS Artists Management. Special Thanks to Widescreen, Conor Hayes, Heritage, Naoise Kettle, Dave at The Tropical Bar, Marcello at The Dark Room, Alan Flynn, OZ3 Costume Design, Hepburns Benidorm.
