Dublin based electronic duo Barbagianni return with their second single “Out Of My Head” this Friday, July 18th, following on from their “Punch Drunk” debut! The band, comprised of Karl McCrone (producer/guitar) and Matthew Keating (producer/bass) have collaborated with a number of familiar Irish talents including Lydia Ford, Lucy McWilliams and Theo Fitzgibbon, and the new track features a powerhouse of a vocal performance by Katie Ryan, elevating an electric dance track to a guaranteed club scene anthem.
“Out of My Head started out as ‘Teach,’ meaning ‘house’ in Irish. It’s an exciting sonic evolution for us, emerging from a creative exploration of faster tempos and more aggressive drum patterns,” says Barbagianni. “The result was an irresistible groove, made truly unforgettable by London-based session vocalist Katie Ryan, whose soaring vocals inject unparalleled energy into every chorus.”
The new track is worlds away from “Punch Drunk”, to me, and infinitely catchier. Maybe it comes down to Katie Ryan’s confident vocals, which kick in almost immediately and only ever pause for a catchy rhythm break, or maybe it’s the steady tempo of the beat itself. “Out Of My Head” is a total ear worm, and definitely belongs on the dancefloor it’ll end up on, after Friday.
For me, it’s a solid 9/10 – with their debut album releasing later this year, I hope that it’ll include plenty more of these infectious sort of tracks!
