Baba – shares new single ‘Spicy Summer (feat. Enda Gallery)’ taken from upcoming album

Soulful pop artist Baba shares her mesmerising new single Spicy Summer (feat. Enda Gallery) via Welcome to the New World.

Written under the autumn sky in Lisbon, there was nothing quite like the warmth of the Portugal sun and the refreshing change of scenery to get Baba’s creative juices flowing. Following a difficult few years enduring fertility treatments and multiple miscarriages, she felt inspired to reconnect with the things that give her joy in life and take back control of her happiness.

“Summer and kissing” being top of her blissful list, Baba brings the passionate nature of both mood-bosters to life with producer and collaborator Enda Gallery. Gallery also worked with Baba on previous singles ‘Truth’, ‘Apollo’, and ‘Sad Party’, the latter of which was featured in The Sunday Times, highlighted as RTE.ie Tune of the Week, and enjoyed airplay across Beat 102-103, Red FM, Clare FM, Northern Sound, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Dublin City FM. The music video to album title track ‘Truth’, which was also produced by Gallery, has almost surpassed 10,000 views on YouTube

Featuring rich production and stunning harmonies from Baba and Gallery, ‘Spicy Summer’ blends bold allure with effortless charm.  Baba says, “When we revisited the demo for the album, it felt like something was missing from the song. So, we stripped it down to just vocals and piano. As Enda sang through it, his vocals sounded so beautiful and added something fresh to the track and ‘Spicy Summer’ as a duet was born”.

Truth is the upcoming debut album from Baba, which will arrive on May 30th. The album will be autobiographical, exploring themes of female empowerment, love, loss and hope, drawing from her difficult fertility journey, with much of the subject matter being shaped by this experience. Her pain, grief and joy drive her to use music to communicate the emotional and spiritual response of people in this often private experience. Of the album, she says,  “I want to give hope to the despairing and celebrate the wonder of the human spirit to both survive and thrive, despite unimaginable grief and longing”. A collection of auditory delights await from this Queen of Irish Soul Pop.
