Ayra Starr – has dropped the fiery music video for ‘Gimme Dat’ feat. Wizkid

GRAMMY-nominated global and double MOBO Award-winning Afrobeats star Ayra Starr shares a fiery music video for her sexy sizzler hit ‘Gimme Dat’ featuring Wizkid.

Directed by Annie Bercy and Ayra Starr, the dramatic, saturated wide visuals amplifies the summer-ready mood of the Afro-R&B track. Shot in London and Australia, the film-like music video begins with Ayra Starr dancing solo by a sleek vintage red car. The video soon cuts to multi-award-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid, surrounded by dancers.

The video which is just as transfixing as the song itself jumps visuals between shots of her spinning around a life-size vinyl and scenes of superstar Wizkid holding court in Uty the dancers. From the choreography to the chemistry, the video organically evokes the excitement and vibe befitting of Gimme Dat on screen.

Gimme Dat has not surged as not only Ayra Starr’s biggest smash at release week, but it has become a record-breaking anthem for the star. It impressively bowed at #6 on the Billboard U.S. Afro songs chart, earning the biggest debut for a female artist in Nigerian music history.

This colossal meeting of two of the planet’s biggest African music superstars on an instantly-addictive song is set to make a mark on all our summer playlists. ‘Gimme Dat’ fuses Ayra Starr’s signature confident lyrics with West African charms and Wizkid’s undeniable charisma over a hypnotic rhythmic track, which samples Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s ‘911’.

‘Gimme Dat’ has received her biggest opening week of UK streams, earning an increase of 23% in its first week, versus Ayra’s high-performing starting single ‘Last Heartbreak Song’ — landing at no. 18 on the UK trending charts. The sizzling new song has over 10 million streams globally and has moved up to the B-list at BBC 1Xtra and Kiss XTRA.

‘Gimme Dat’
arrives hot on the heels of Ayra Starr’s soulful single All The Love, released in February, as the latest in a flourish of new music following her monumental sophomore album “The Year I Turned 21” and stadium tour with Coldplay across Australia and New Zealand. The fast-rising musician is set to make her Hollywood debut in the film adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, starring alongside Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo and Lashana Lynch.

“The Year I Turned 21” – with the landmark singles ‘Commas’ and ‘Last Heartbreak Song’ (feat. Giveon) – catapulted Ayra Starr to becoming one of Africa’s biggest music stars with over 2 BILLION global streams. NME hailed the album as “breathing new life into Afropop… each track radiates a clear vision”, while The Guardian underlined, “the magnetism of Starr’s flow and fire is undeniable”.
