American rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer Breland – drops his new EP ”Project 2024” today, read our review here

BRELAND’s highly anticipated Project 2024 EP, releasing today, October 18th, is a testament to the outrageous talent of this genre-blurring artist. Known for his ability to merge country, hip-hop, and R&B with ease, BRELAND once again demonstrates his versatility and lyrical dexterity across six vibrant tracks. Each track carries its own unique flavor, yet together they form a cohesive project that highlights BRELAND’s range as both a songwriter and a vocalist.

The EP opens with “Grandmaman’em,” a personal tribute to BRELAND’s ancestors. With infectious energy and a smooth blend of pop and R&B, he reflects on the struggles his family endured and the motivation he draws from their perseverance. “They took a lot of losses, so I have to win,” BRELAND sings, balancing pride in his heritage with a hopeful message for the future. His soulful delivery and catchy production give this track a universal appeal, setting the tone for the rest of the project.

From there, the EP jumps into “Icing,” a fun, upbeat track that’s as catchy as it is playful. With a jazzy, toe-tapping beat, BRELAND sings about an independent, beautiful woman who’s got it all together. The lighthearted lyrics—“Baby got a 401k”—bring humor and charm, while the infectious hook ensures this will be a fan favorite. It’s a breezy, feel-good song that contrasts nicely with the EP’s deeper, more introspective moments.

“What You’ve Been Through” shifts gears into a slower, more reflective mood. This track centers around a woman who remains strong and radiant despite her past struggles. BRELAND’s vocal performance here is particularly moving, with polished production that enhances the song’s emotional depth.

The empowering message—“Girl, here you are, happy, healthy, and strong”—gives this song an uplifting, relatable feel that resonates long after the final note.

“Motion” continues the introspective theme but takes it in a more bittersweet direction. In this song, BRELAND reflects on a past relationship, questioning whether the feelings were real or if they were just going through the motions. The lyrics, “Lately we’ve been going through the motions, without the emotions,” cut deep, while the stripped-down production allows his voice to shine. It’s a beautifully vulnerable moment on the EP, highlighting BRELAND’s strength in storytelling.

The pace picks up again with “Run,” a lively, fast-paced song about seizing the moment before it’s too late. The quick tempo mirrors the urgency in the lyrics as BRELAND sings about running wild in his youth but realizing that time eventually runs out. With clever lines like, “I’ve run hard like a Chevy engine, ‘til I’d run out of gas and women,” the song strikes a balance between playful and reflective. It’s a standout track that showcases BRELAND’s ability to craft memorable hooks and thought-provoking lyrics.

Closing out the EP is “Same Work,” a slower, heartfelt ballad featuring The War and Treaty. The song tells the story of an interaction with a veteran after one of BRELAND’s shows, shifting his perspective on the value of different kinds of work. The powerful message, “Isn’t it the same work if we’re tryna heal the same hurt?” captures the essence of the track, which is all about empathy and shared humanity. It’s a fitting and poignant closer that leaves a lasting impression.

BRELAND’s Project 2024 is a masterclass in genre fusion, proving once again that he can navigate a wide array of sounds while maintaining authenticity. From pop, jazz, country and R&B to moments of reflection and deep emotion, the EP offers something for everyone. Each song highlights a different side of BRELAND’s artistry, making it a cohesive yet dynamic body of work.
