Amble / Seanie Bermingham – Spiegeltent Festival Wexford, 30.10.2024

Amble delivered a standout performance on October 30, 2024, at the Spiegeltent Festival in Wexford. The show was sold out well in advance, and the vibrant crowd who I spoke with on the night were made up of a mix from across all counties of Ireland, Canada, and the United States.

Support for the evening came from the brilliant Seanie Bermingham, whose set was a perfect warm-up. This was the second time I’ve seen Seanie this year, with the previous being at the “When Next We Meet” festival, and he’s only grown more impressive. He is a great talent and a really wonderful human being. Not only did he and his band bring their own flavour to the evening, but they also joined Amble on stage later in the evening as a backing band.

From the opening notes of “Little White Chapel,” Amble set a high tone that never wavered throughout the night. The band’s incredible live vocals were a perfect match for the acoustically rich setting of the Spiegeltent. The venue itself was a standout, with its intimate atmosphere, excellent setup, and spacious accommodations making it an ideal spot for a night of live music.

The setlist was a mix of fan favorites as well as new releases. Highlights included “Shallow River Run,” which had the crowd swaying in unison, and “Of Land and Sea”. All songs were introduced with the meaning behind them or a little tidbit about how the band came to be. When they played “Mary’s Pub,” the energy in the tent was incredible, with the audience singing every word back to the band, turning the song into an amazing experience, what live music is meant to be.

As the night drew on, Amble continued to impress, delivering hit after hit. “Lonely Island” and “Tonnta” were particular crowd-pleasers, their lyrics echoing throughout the tent as fans joined in without hesitation. The encore, “The Commons,” was the perfect finale, a powerful closer that left the audience in high spirits, reluctant to see the night end. Amble’s performance, paired with the Spiegeltent’s impressive setup, created a night that showed off all the good in the Irish music scene. The venue’s spacious layout and top-notch facilities made it a comfortable and immersive experience, allowing the music to take center stage. Overall, Amble’s live show was raw musical talent laid bare for fans to soak up– their passion, talent, and connection with the crowd were evident. These boys will be selling out shows here and further a field for a long time to come.
